In the spirit of giving back this holiday season, Radiocoms has decided to make a generous donation to St John’s Hospice in lieu of our Christmas expenditure. We believe that there is no better way to celebrate a season of love and compassion than by supporting an organisation that provides essential care and support to those in need.
St John’s Hospice is an independent charity located within the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth in St John’s Wood, London. They provide specialised palliative care to more than 4,000 terminally-ill patients and their families every year. Our donation will help ensure that these services can continue to be provided, reaching those who need them the most.
St John’s Hospice statement
“We would like to say a heart-felt thank you to Radiocoms for continuing their support for the Hospice. They have made a wonderful donation to cover the costs of running our weekly Wellbeing Group in the Day Centre up until the end of the year. The Wellbeing Group is a hugely valued service to our patients. Isolation is a very prevalent issue in Westminster, with 45% of households having only one occupant.
Being isolated is detrimental to all medical conditions, and many of our therapist visits in the community are to elderly people who are living alone. This group, which takes place weekly, involves patients taking part in various activities including relaxation sessions, arts, horticulture and exercises. Occupational Therapist Caroline Ayers, St Johns Hospice who runs the group says, “Leading a therapeutic group means building on and nurturing the qualities that patients already have such as resilience. It is so powerful for them to hear from someone who has been through what they have and to share their experiences so they can learn from each other. They can see others cope and realise that they are not alone. They are the experts with real lived experience.” This donation will make a wonderful difference to our patients. Thank you, Radiocoms!”
