Two Way Radios

How does a two way radio work?

Portable two way radio communication systems allow individuals to keep in contact with each other using radio waves.

Using the radio waves a hand portable radio transmits and receives, keeping teams connected over one site or many locally, nationally, and globally.  Often referred to as business walkie talkies, they are one of the most widely utilised technologies for businesses and organisations to share information safely and efficiently. Advanced, built-in encryption technology offered by every radio manufacturer ensures your radio equipment is protected for complete privacy.

Devices vary from simple back to back operations (simplex) using the PTT button on the radio, to more complexed communication systems (duplex) that utilise data to share locations, issue work tasks or connect into other technologies such as alarms systems, for example. Fixed mobile two-way radios can be installed into employees vehicles, offices or control rooms.

Let us help you find the right two
way radios for your business.

Every organisation is different and so are the parameters of how you would like your radio system to operate. Radiocoms has helped thousands of organisations of every size transform their business operations with radio communications technologies for over five decades.

Licence free vs. licenced two way radios - grey

What is the differences between licence free vs. licenced two way radio?

Non-licenced (PMR446) radios are restricted to a maximum 0.5 Watt transmission power and work on a licence free allocation of 16 frequencies. In built-up areas such as cities, these channels can become congested. PMR446 two way radios are ideal for small-site, same-building and line of sight outdoor activities.

Private Mobile Radio (PMR) /Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) work in conventional or trunked mode and will be programmed to your own specific OFCOM frequencies. With the ability to link one site to global locations together licenced hand-portables are suited to organisations who need high-power communications, advanced voice features and integrated data services.

Land Mobile Radio (LMR) TETRA radio is a global open standard for digital trunked radio technology. The standard was developed by public safety and radio industry experts together with the ETSI to ensure TETRA portable/handheld, mobile / vehicle-mounted and fixed-base devices, as well as the network infrastructure, provide secure, reliable and instant voice and data communications in mission-critical, operations-critical and business-critical environments.
