In this months ‘Ask the Expert’ we spoke to Richard Cheung from JUMA Communications Ltd, a leading audio accessory manufacturer, about the importance of listening to the market, sustainability and Richards passion for surfboarding
Can you tell us about JUMA Communications & the core values of the organisation?
The company was founded in 2012. It’s main focus then, which is the same today, was to provide our customers with a complete range of audio accessories from the basic style of products suitable for radio hire fleets to complex bespoke solutions to meet the requirement of specialist teams often operating in challenging and dangerous environments.
How is JUMA different to its main competitors?
It may seem obvious to say but we are an open, customer focused business. We always listen to customer requests, suggestions, any issues they have and aim to react in a constructive, and supportive manner whilst aiming to do so in a timely fashion.
Have you noticed any key trends or changes for two way radio accessories in recent years?
As key radio manufacturers aim to protect their core business we see a need for “smart accessories” that communicate with the radio that allow optimum audio performance when connected to the device. To this point we work closely with manufacturer’s like Motorola to ensure our accessory offering meets these standards.
How has JUMA managed to embed sustainability into the products it manufactures/supports?
In this globally challenging time we are continually working with our component suppliers here in the UK, US, and China to ensure we can fully support the products we offer now, and new ones being developed.
What else is in store for JUMA in 2023 that will benefit Radiocoms clients?
Behind the scenes we have been busy developing a new range of covert and tactical products that should be of interest to many key customers.
Tell us a bit about yourself personally and your background before JUMA
I live in the Peak District with my wife and young son. As my parents used to say to me you relive your youth though your children so a lot of personal time is spent in the beautiful countryside our country has to offer. Our passion would be getting to the South West as much as possible for surfing & skateboarding. Upon graduating from university my 1st “real” job was with Lowe Electronics (some of you old enough should remember that company). This led to a short spell working for Savox before joining JUMA as Sales & Marketing director in 2012. Over the last 11 years the business has continued to grow in terms of capability and personnel.
What is the most challenging and most rewarding aspects of your job?
Most rewarding would be helping to our key partners to win projects and see the orders materialise. The most challenging is then working to achieve the delivery demands that have been promised. Although this leads to a rewarding aspect again once goods are delivered.
And finally, You’re stranded on a desert island. What three things would you bring with you?
Developing strong relationships with our suppliers is of paramount importance to Radiocoms Systems Ltd
As the UK’s leading voice and data radio communications partner, we pride ourselves on keeping our finger on the pulse in regards to the latest products, solutions and innovations. This allows Radiocoms Systems to deliver to you, our clients tailor-made, innovative communication solutions that provide a clear, measurable return on investment.
