Radiocoms partners with The Lexicon in Bracknell to deliver a MOTOTRBO radio system with TRBOnet Plus dispatch solution

Project Details

The Lexicon represents one of the biggest Town Centre regenerations in the UK. In addition to 70 new shops and restaurants, the project also encompasses improvements to the existing High Street buildings and the restoration and extension of local landmark, The Bull.

With a new 1,300 space multi-storey car park, provided by Bracknell Forest Council, and improvements to local highways, The Lexicon Bracknell is set to become one of Berkshire’s most convenient and vibrant shopping and leisure destinations.

The opening of the Lexicon provided an opportunity for a new radio system to be deployed, that covered not only the centre but the wider town centre. Members of the Management Team had been familiar with MOTOTRBO having made use of it in Princess Square.

In time for opening day all stakeholders had reviewed the portfolio of products and chosen a specification that gave both the Management and Tenants, a future proof solution, to respond to the demands of a busy retail environment.

Radiocoms recommended Motorola MOTOTRBO™ radios with IMPRES™ batteries to help increase the operational readiness. IMPRES™ audio accessories are in use to suppress ambient noise, amplify loudness and improve voice intelligibility. After extensive trialling it was decided that the MOTOTRBO radios were the best devices to meet The Lexicon’s requirements. Some 170 DP4401e were chosen to provide the best user experience.

As a scalable, single-site digital trunking solution, Capacity Plus expands the capacity of your MOTOTRBO communication system even further. Over a thousand radio users can quickly and efficiently share business-critical voice and data communication on the same system without having to add new frequencies.

During the run up to the opening day, Radiocoms and the Management Team at The Lexicon met to discuss the project delivery including the configuration of the radios. The coverage from the new system was checked, the features to be used confirmed and talks with the IT contractors held.

Radiocoms assisted with the Ofcom licence to operate application.

When the day came, a team on of engineers first installed the SLR5500 and tuned it to provide optimum coverage, whilst meeting the strict guidelines. The radios were delivered and went into immediate service, being used by the Security, Facilities and Management Team.
