Due to the advancement of technology, wireless communication systems are becoming more and more broadband-based. Private network systems are also developing in terms of IP, broadband data connections, and multi-mode terminals, for example Hytera’s most recent release the PDM680 MCS Rugged Radio. Multi mode devices allow users to combine advanced user and service management with traditional LMR radio features.
“With the maturity of broadband technology and the need for service upgrades, the demand for data services in public safety is gradually increasing. The broadband services provided by commercial networks cannot fully meet the strict requirements of public safety users in terms of real-time availability and reliability. More and more countries are putting the development of MC-LTE networks on the agenda,” said Yan Liu, Product Manager of Smart Radio Department, Hytera. “The PDM680 represents our deep experience in designing and developing mission-critical solutions for public safety users.”
Although LTE supports image, video, and high speed data transmissions it has traditionally lacked trunking voice capabilities, which business and mission critical users heavily depend on for routine work and emergency responses. In order to solve these problems, 3GPP introduced Mission Critical Service (MCS) broadband trunking.
Mission Critical Service (MCS) is a broadband trunking standard defined in 3GPP release 13/14/15, which includes MCPTT (Mission Critical Push-To-Talk), MCVideo (Mission Critical Video) and MCData (Mission Critical Data) services.
VoLTE is a standard that enables high-speed wireless communication for mobile devices and data terminals based on all IP conditions on a 4G IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network. This is a voice platform that not only provides high speed data connectivity, but also high quality audio and video calls.
PoC (push to talk over cellular) mobile technology has evolved over the past few years into a service that can make one-to-one or one-to-many calls, share data and video quickly and efficiently. Based on a PTT trunking service, it offers mobile data with PTT function on a public mobile network.
