Radiocoms Systems Ltd has secured a three year contract with Keolis Amey Metrolink Limited (KAM) for the provision of engineering services and maintenance support for their MESH data radio network. Metrolink, who operates the largest light rail network in the UK, covers almost 65 miles, with a fleet of close to 100 trams. In total, 7 million passengers travelled 7.2 million miles according to the figures contained within the government’s annual light rail and tram statistical analysis, during the last financial year.
Operating across a total of sixteen broadcast sites, the MESH data radio solution which is controlled by two central control rooms provides connectivity for all of Metrolink’s light rail vehicles and over 900 support staff.
The scope of the service level agreement will deliver 24/7 support as well as consultancy and investigatory resources. Radiocoms and KAM will work together to ensure that client satisfaction is maintained and delivers a resilient service of ‘right first time, every time‘.
The topography of the wireless network can change over a period of time due to external factors. To ensure that the contract is run effectively and efficiently Julie Lewis, Radiocoms transportation account manager has been appointed to co-ordinate all activities and manage associated KAM tasks, as well as the provision of value-added services.
