On behalf of Heathrow Airport Ltd (HAL) AOA Members Radiocoms Systems Ltd installed a Hytera DMR Tier III Digital Trunked System, which uses a ‘Distributed Antenna System’ to provide coverage across the airfield and throughout all the terminals.

The opening of the Lexicon provided an opportunity for a new radio system to be deployed, that covered not only the centre but the wider town centre. Members of the Management Team had been familiar with MOTOTRBO having made use of it in Princess Square. In time for opening day all stakeholders had reviewed the portfolio of products and chosen a specification that gave both the Management and Tenants, a future proof solution, to respond to the demands of a busy retail environment.

Following a successful presentation and demonstration, the organisation decided to upgrade to Motorola MOTOTRBO™ digital radios with IMPRES™ batteries chosen for extended talk time usage. Initially, an order was placed for the highly resilient MOTOTRBO DP4801e digital hand portable radios for each site and up to four Motorola Solutions MOTOTRBO SLR 5500 repeater base stations to increase the coverage area, depending on the size of the wind farm.

MAG decided to upgrade its radio communications networks from analogue to digital at Stansted and Manchester airports. MAG wanted all their airports on the same system, all radio protocols to be identical and features and functions aligned, with the option of connecting the sites in the future. This Fire & Rescue Service was previously using an analogue radio system.
