The business was originally formed in 1973. Radiocoms supplies, installs, commissions and maintains both digital and analogue radio communication systems and is one of the UK’s leading independent radio distributors.

Radiocoms was purchased by its current management team in June 2006 after previously being owned by a private investor and prior to that was part of the Group 4 Securicor business. Since the management buyout Radiocoms has achieved unrivalled growth in its sector, winning many large contracts including the supply of radio equipment to 46 UK fire and rescue services, and the supply and maintenance of equipment to the Ministry of Defence in Germany, Gibraltar and Cyprus.

In July 2010, Radiocoms acquired the business of the long established North London based company, London Communications Plc, creating the largest independent PMR business in the UK communications sector. This acquisition continues the pattern of growth commenced in 2006, and moves the company forward towards its objective of being a truly nationwide company, with the ability to provide customers with a comprehensive range of radio communication services.

Radiocoms’ independence is of great benefit to its customers because, not being obliged to prefer any one manufacturer’s products, it is able to offer a range of solutions from the whole spectrum of equipment available in the market, including all the leading manufacturers and the latest technology. Radiocoms’ customers are widespread throughout the United Kingdom and Western Europe covering a broad range of industrial sectors including construction, petrochemicals, security, fire services, retail and heavy industry.

Following the acquisition of London Communications’ business, the increase in staff resources in engineering and sales has proved hugely beneficial in positioning Radiocoms to win significant tenders. Radiocoms now has offices in North West London as well as its northern offices in Warrington. These locations, together with Radiocoms’ remote workers ensures the company can provide truly national coverage for all aspects of service and support.

Radiocoms continues to be at the forefront of the supply of digital mobile radio having installed over 20 applications in the past six months providing GPS, alarm handling, dispatcher software and telephone interconnect.
